4 ounces unsweetened chocolate

2/3 cup shortening

2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/4 cups self-rising flour

1 cup nuts, chopped

Instructions: Melt chocolate and shortening in large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar, eggs, vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in pan. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes or until brownies pull away from side of pan.
