1 cup shortening

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon soda

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 can coconut


1/2 stick margarine

1 teaspoon vanilla

8 ounces cream cheese

1 box powdered sugar

Instructions: Cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in with mixture 5 egg yolks. Sift together flour and soda. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Add nuts and coconut. Beat egg white stiffly. Fold into batter. Pour into 3 pans.

Bake 30 minutes at 350* or until done.

ICING: Cream together cream cheese and margarine and add vanilla and sugar. Blend until smooth.
